Artistic Directors, Sarah Beth Byrum and Eularee Smith, bring over 50 combined years of educational and performing arts experience to Upstart Crow Studios. Their passion for music, dance and theatre is the driving force behind the mission of this mother-daughter team.
Sarah Beth owns and directs Eugene and Springfield-based All That! Dance Company, offering dance instruction of all genres for students pre-school through adult. Sarah Beth’s journey from tiny ballerina to Artistic Director has taken her across many dance floors — both as student and instructor. She has lent her talented toes to Spotlight Theatre, the Talented and Gifted Institute Summer Enrichment Program, and the 4J School District Enrichment Program. Sarah Beth received the 2006 Gerald E. Bruce award for outstanding community service from the Ford Family Foundation.
Eularee has spent over three decades teaching music in public and private schools to children of all ages. She has worn many hats including music director, writer, composer and creative consultant — all paving the way for her to offer children a successful artistic experience at Upstart Crow Studios. Eularee’s accomplishments include curriculum and creative workshop development, various published works, and community volunteerism which has brought her local and state recognition, including the 2006 Oregon Red Cross Meals on Wheels Volunteer of the Year.
